Pediarix + Hiberix

Pediarix + Hiberix is a combination vaccine regimen developed by GSK for the active immunization of infants and children. It consists of the concomitant administration of Pediarix—a pentavalent vaccine containing diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis (DTaP), recombinant hepatitis B (HepB), and inactivated poliovirus (IPV)—and Hiberix, a conjugate vaccine against Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). While Pediarix provides protection against five major childhood diseases, it does not include a Hib component, necessitating the co-administration of a separate Hib vaccine like Hiberix to achieve broad protection against six pathogens. The regimen is typically administered as a three-dose primary series in infants starting at 6 weeks of age. The components work by inducing humoral immune responses (antibodies) against specific bacterial toxins, viral surface antigens, and capsular polysaccharides.
