Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pembrolizumab + flutamide is an investigational combination therapy consisting of pembrolizumab, a monoclonal antibody immune checkpoint inhibitor targeting programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), and flutamide, a nonsteroidal antiandrogen that inhibits androgen receptor signaling. Pembrolizumab works by blocking the PD-1 pathway, thereby enhancing T-cell mediated immune responses against tumor cells. Flutamide acts as an antagonist at the androgen receptor, inhibiting the effects of androgens in prostate cancer cells. This combination is being explored for potential synergistic antitumor activity in prostate cancer by simultaneously modulating immune response and suppressing androgen-driven tumor growth.
