Drug intelligence / Profile preview
- Pemetrexed is an antifolate chemotherapy agent used primarily for non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and malignant pleural mesothelioma. It inhibits folate-dependent enzymes involved in nucleotide synthesis, thereby inhibiting tumor cell replication. - Serplulimab is a novel anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody that blocks the programmed death-1 (PD-1) immune checkpoint receptor, enhancing T-cell mediated antitumor immune response. - The combination of pemetrexed with serplulimab has been studied as a first-line treatment for advanced non-squamous NSCLC without driver mutations. Clinical trials demonstrated that adding serplulimab to chemotherapy including pemetrexed significantly improves progression-free survival and overall survival compared to chemotherapy alone. - Developed by Henlius, this combination offers a new immunotherapy plus chemotherapy option for advanced NSCLC patients, especially those negative for driver gene mutations.
