Overview
PEPGRAM is a peppermint oil capsule developed by Ingram Biosciences. Peppermint oil is a botanical extract derived from the Mentha × piperita plant, containing active constituents such as menthol and menthone. It acts primarily as a smooth muscle relaxant in the gastrointestinal tract by inhibiting voltage-gated calcium channels, which reduces the contractility of intestinal smooth muscle. This antispasmodic effect makes it a common therapeutic option for the management of symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including abdominal pain, bloating, and flatulence. It is also utilized for its carminative properties to alleviate dyspepsia.
