Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Perindopril + hydrochlorothiazide is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used to treat high blood pressure. Perindopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that lowers blood pressure by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor, thereby relaxing blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that reduces blood pressure by increasing the excretion of sodium and water through the kidneys, decreasing fluid volume in the bloodstream. The combination enhances antihypertensive efficacy compared to monotherapy and is generally well tolerated[1][3][4]. It is administered orally.
