Pertussis fimbrial agglutinogen 2 + pertussis fimbrial agglutinogen 3 is a combination of two purified protein subunits derived from the bacterium *Bordetella pertussis*, used as essential components in multi-antigen acellular pertussis (aP) vaccines. Fimbriae, also known as agglutinogens, are filamentous surface structures that play a critical role in bacterial adhesion to the ciliated respiratory epithelium, a key step in the pathogenesis of whooping cough. By including both serotypes 2 and 3 (FIM2 and FIM3), vaccines aim to provide broader protective immunity against various circulating strains of *B. pertussis*. This combination is typically formulated alongside other antigens such as pertussis toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, and pertactin, often within diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP/Tdap) vaccines.
