Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pfs230D1M-EPA + Alhydrogel is a malaria transmission-blocking vaccine candidate consisting of recombinant Plasmodium falciparum surface protein 230 domain 1 (Pfs230D1M) conjugated to Pseudomonas aeruginosa ExoProtein A (EPA) and formulated with Alhydrogel as an adjuvant. The vaccine targets the sexual stage development of P. falciparum parasites, inducing antibodies that prevent malaria transmission from humans to mosquitoes. It works through a complement-dependent mechanism, where antibodies against Pfs230 block parasite development in the mosquito midgut.
