PGX-alginate is a drug delivery technology platform developed by Ceapro Inc. that utilizes Pressurized Gas eXpanded (PGX) liquid technology to process sodium alginate into high-surface-area, highly porous scaffolds. These scaffolds, which can reach surface areas of approximately 200 m²/g, are designed to be loaded with active pharmaceutical ingredients—including hydrophobic drugs like ibuprofen—and can be crosslinked with calcium to form hydrogels. The technology is primarily being investigated for applications in burn wound healing, where the porous matrix supports tissue regeneration and provides controlled local delivery of therapeutic agents.
