Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Phenol + glycerin (commonly known as Glycerin Phenique) is a topical otic solution developed and marketed by Sepidaj Pharmaceutical. This combination product is primarily indicated for the treatment of mild ear infections (otitis externa) and the softening of impacted earwax (cerumen). Phenol serves a dual role as an antiseptic, providing antimicrobial activity through non-specific protein denaturation, and as a local anesthetic to alleviate ear pain. Glycerin acts as a hygroscopic vehicle and emollient, which helps to dehydrate inflamed tissues and soften cerumen for easier removal. The product is an established formulation in the Iranian pharmaceutical market.
