pHIS-HIV-AE + rFPV-HIV-AE is a combination HIV vaccine regimen developed as a prime-boost strategy for the prevention of HIV-1 infection. The regimen consists of two components: - **pHIS-HIV-AE** is a DNA vaccine that delivers genes from the AE clade of HIV-1, intended to prime the immune system. - **rFPV-HIV-AE** is a recombinant fowlpox virus vector vaccine delivering the same AE clade HIV-1 genes, used as a booster following priming with pHIS-HIV-AE. The mechanism involves immunostimulation by presenting HIV antigens to elicit both cellular and humoral immune responses against HIV. This approach aims to enhance immunogenicity compared to single-modality vaccination. The combination was evaluated in clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults at risk for HIV infection but development has been discontinued after early-phase studies[1][7].
