Overview

PHR160 is an investigational herbal inhaler spray developed by Baqiyatallah Medical Sciences University in Tehran, Iran, for the treatment of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 infection). It is a multi-component botanical formulation extracted from seven plant species via steam distillation. The formulation contains a combination of active constituents including cineole (sineol), menthol, crocin, safranal, alpha-thujone, and various fatty acids such as oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids. Rooted in Iranian Traditional Medicine, PHR160 is designed to address pulmonary involvement and symptoms in hospitalized patients. Each puff of the spray delivers 160 micrograms of the active substance. The drug has been evaluated in multi-center, randomized, double-blind clinical trials to assess its safety and efficacy in improving clinical outcomes for patients with pulmonary complications from COVID-19.
