Picolight + Clicolon

Picolight + Clicolon is a combination bowel preparation regimen evaluated for its efficacy and tolerability in patients undergoing colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening. The regimen combines Picolight, a stimulant and osmotic laxative containing sodium picosulfate, magnesium oxide, and citric acid, with Clicolon, an oral sodium phosphate tablet. Sodium picosulfate is a prodrug metabolized by colonic bacteria into an active metabolite that stimulates colonic peristalsis, while magnesium citrate (formed in solution) and sodium phosphate act as osmotic laxatives, drawing water into the intestinal lumen to facilitate bowel cleansing. This combination approach is designed to reduce the total volume of fluid intake required for preparation, thereby improving patient compliance and reducing side effects compared to standard high-volume polyethylene glycol (PEG) solutions. It has been studied in Phase II trials by the National Cancer Center, Korea.
