pindolol + trazodone

This is a combination of two small molecule drugs, pindolol and trazodone. Pindolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker (beta blocker) primarily used to manage hypertension and angina. Trazodone is a serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (SARI) antidepressant, mainly indicated for major depressive disorder. The combination has been studied in the treatment of major depression, including treatment-resistant depression, where pindolol may enhance the antidepressant effect of trazodone by antagonizing presynaptic serotonin 5-HT1A autoreceptors, potentially accelerating or augmenting serotonergic antidepressant response[1][6].
