Pyracezin is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product containing the nootropic agent piracetam and the calcium channel blocker cinnarizine. Developed and marketed by companies such as Minskintercaps, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of cerebrovascular insufficiency, post-stroke recovery, and vestibular disorders including Meniere's disease and motion sickness. Piracetam, a derivative of GABA, acts as a nootropic by enhancing neuronal metabolic processes, improving glucose and oxygen utilization, and modulating neurotransmission. Cinnarizine acts as a selective antagonist of voltage-gated calcium channels and also possesses antihistaminic properties, which together reduce vascular resistance and improve cerebral blood flow without significantly impacting systemic blood pressure.
