Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Taspeno is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) pharmaceutical product containing pitavastatin and fenofibrate. Pitavastatin is a third-generation statin that inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, thereby reducing LDL cholesterol levels. Fenofibrate is a fibric acid derivative that acts as an agonist for the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), which increases the lipolysis of triglyceride-rich particles and stimulates the synthesis of HDL cholesterol. This combination is typically used to treat mixed dyslipidemia in patients who require management of both elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It is marketed by Withus Group in South Korea.
