Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of pitavastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to lower cholesterol levels, and levothyroxine, a synthetic thyroid hormone used to treat hypothyroidism. Pitavastatin is used for primary hyperlipidemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Levothyroxine is used for hypothyroidism. No direct pharmacological interactions have been found between these medications, although observational studies show a higher rate of statin utilization in patients taking levothyroxine.
