Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pitapenocol SR is a fixed-dose combination sustained-release tablet developed by Myungmoon Pharm for the treatment of mixed dyslipidemia. It combines pitavastatin calcium (2 mg), an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that effectively lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), with choline fenofibrate (equivalent to 135 mg of fenofibric acid), a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha) agonist that reduces triglycerides (TG) and increases high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). By incorporating a choline salt, the formulation enhances the solubility and absorption of fenofibrate, allowing for consistent therapeutic efficacy regardless of food intake. Pitapenocol SR was approved and launched in South Korea in May 2026.
