Overview
This combination represents the control arm used in Phase 3 clinical trials for treatment-naive severe aplastic anemia (SAA), specifically those sponsored by Jiangsu HengRui Medicine Co., Ltd. evaluating hetrombopag. The standard therapy component consists of a regimen of immunosuppressive therapy (IST) including antithymocyte globulin (ATG) and cyclosporine. ATG is a polyclonal antibody that induces T-cell depletion, while cyclosporine is a calcineurin inhibitor that suppresses T-cell activation and cytokine production. This combination is the established standard of care for SAA patients who are ineligible for bone marrow transplantation.
