Overview
Placebo C is an inactive control substance used in a Phase 2a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled factorial trial conducted at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow, India. The trial was designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of artesunate and curcumin in patients with mild to moderate Crohn's disease who had ongoing disease activity despite azathioprine therapy. Specifically, Placebo C was formulated to match the appearance and administration of curcumin (2 grams daily) to maintain the study's blinding. The placebo was provided by Cadila Pharmaceuticals India, and the study was supported by Bowel Disease UK.
