This placebo gel is the inactive vehicle control used in clinical trials developed by Olatec Therapeutics LLC, specifically for the evaluation of OLT1177 Gel (dapansutrile). In the context of knee osteoarthritis, it was utilized in a Phase 2b randomized, double-blind trial (NCT02104050) to compare against the active 5% dapansutrile formulation. The gel contains the same excipients and base formulation as the active product but lacks the active pharmaceutical ingredient, dapansutrile (a selective NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor).
