The plague (Yersinia pestis) F1 + rV vaccine is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate designed to provide protection against plague, a severe infectious disease caused by the bacterium *Yersinia pestis*. The vaccine formulation incorporates two key protective antigens: the Fraction 1 (F1) capsular protein and the recombinant V (rV) antigen (also known as LcrV). These antigens are essential for the pathogen's virulence and its ability to evade the host immune response. By inducing the production of specific antibodies against these targets, the vaccine aims to prevent both bubonic and pneumonic forms of the disease. This specific program, developed by the Lanzhou Institute of Biological Products, has undergone Phase 1 clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy adults.
