Platelet rich fibrin + lidocaine is a combination product consisting of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and the local anesthetic lidocaine. PRF is an autologous blood-derived biomaterial containing a high concentration of platelets, leukocytes, and growth factors within a three-dimensional fibrin matrix. It acts as a scaffold to promote tissue regeneration and healing by gradually releasing growth factors such as PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, and EGF at the site of application[10][6][8]. Lidocaine is an amide-type local anesthetic that blocks sodium channels on neuronal membranes to inhibit nerve impulse conduction, providing localized pain relief during or after procedures[4]. The combination may be used in regenerative medicine or surgical settings to enhance healing while reducing procedural pain. However, studies indicate that mixing local anesthetics like lidocaine with platelet preparations can have variable effects on cell viability; specifically, lidocaine at clinically relevant concentrations appears relatively safe for platelets but may reduce tenocyte proliferation when combined with PRP/PRF[1][4].
