Overview

This is an autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy developed by the Dr. Himanshu Bansal Foundation for the treatment of symptomatic primary knee osteoarthritis. The biologic therapy is prepared from 60 ml of the patient's own blood using a specialized manual centrifugation process followed by a 1 µm filtration step to achieve a high concentration of platelets (approximately 7-fold) and high recovery. Administered via intra-articular injection, the PRP releases a variety of growth factors and bioactive molecules from platelet alpha-granules, which aim to modulate the intra-articular environment, reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and potentially stimulate cartilage repair. It has been evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (NCT04198467) comparing its efficacy and safety against hyaluronic acid.
