Platelet-rich plasma + concentrated platelet-poor plasma is an **autologous combination product** derived from a patient's own whole blood, through centrifugation and selective harvesting of plasma fractions[3][9][1]. **Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)** contains a high concentration of platelets (typically 3–10 times baseline) and a cocktail of bioactive molecules, notably growth factors, cytokines, and cell adhesion molecules, proven useful for promoting tissue regeneration, modulating inflammation, and accelerating healing in musculoskeletal, dermatological, and surgical contexts[1][3][6]. **Concentrated platelet-poor plasma (CPPP)** is the plasma fraction remaining after removal of platelets, often rich in plasma proteins but lacking significant platelet content, and has been used to augment regenerative or healing effects when combined with PRP. This combination leverages the regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties of platelet-derived growth factors (from PRP) while supplementing with plasma proteins and molecules from CPPP that may contribute to wound stabilization or ancillary healing mechanisms. The mechanism is primarily local delivery of growth factors (VEGF, TGF-β, etc.), modulation of inflammatory cascades (inhibition of NF-κB), and promotion of cellular proliferation and tissue repair[3][1][6][8]. The formulation and efficacy depend on precise centrifugation and separation protocols. The combination is used as a biologic therapy in orthopedics (tendinopathy, joint injuries, ligament/muscle repair), dermatology (wound healing, scars), and other regenerative medical applications. Products are produced at point-of-care by clinicians, and not mass-manufactured as standardized pharmaceuticals.
