Overview

A combination therapy consisting of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUMSCs), including Wharton's jelly-derived MSCs (WJ-MSCs), used for regenerative medicine applications. This combination leverages the regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties of both components. hUMSCs promote wound healing through re-epithelialization, angiogenesis, and granulation tissue formation. PRP provides a rich source of growth factors that stimulate cell proliferation and tissue repair. The combined use has shown synergistic effects in accelerating healing in chronic wounds such as venous ulcers and pressure ulcers, as well as improving outcomes in conditions like premature ovarian failure by enhancing angiogenesis and reducing apoptosis in target tissues[1][3][4][5]. The mechanism involves paracrine signaling from both cell types to promote regeneration.
