Overview
Platelet-rich plasma + triamcinolone acetonide is an investigational combination therapy consisting of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and the synthetic corticosteroid triamcinolone acetonide. It is being evaluated by Ramathibodi Hospital for the treatment of keloid scars, specifically to reduce recurrence rates following surgical excision. PRP is a biologic modulator derived from the patient's blood that concentrates platelets and growth factors (such as PDGF, TGF-β, and VEGF) to promote controlled wound healing. Triamcinolone acetonide is a glucocorticoid that suppresses inflammation and inhibits fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis. The combination is typically administered via intralesional injection into the wound bed during or after surgery.
