plerixafor + filgrastim

Plerixafor + filgrastim is a combination therapy used to mobilize hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) from the bone marrow into the peripheral blood for collection and subsequent autologous transplantation, primarily in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or multiple myeloma. Plerixafor is a small molecule antagonist of the C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4); it blocks binding of stromal cell-derived factor 1α (SDF-1α), disrupting retention signals that anchor HSCs in the bone marrow. Filgrastim is a recombinant granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) that stimulates proliferation and differentiation of neutrophil precursors and also promotes stem cell mobilization. The combination synergistically increases circulating CD34+ progenitor cells, improving yield for transplantation procedures[1][2][3][5].
