Weuphoria PCV-13 (pneumococcal 13-valent conjugate vaccine [tetanus toxoid]) is a 13-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine developed by Walvax Biotechnology and localized in Egypt by Vaccines and Biotechnology City (VBC). It is indicated for the active immunization of infants and children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age to prevent invasive diseases (such as pneumonia, meningitis, bacteremia, and otitis media) caused by 13 Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes (1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, and 23F). Unlike other PCV13 vaccines that use CRM197 as a carrier protein, Weuphoria utilizes tetanus toxoid (TT) as the carrier protein, which helps to elicit a robust T-cell dependent immune response and avoid carrier-induced epitopic suppression.
