POL7080 + amikacin is a combination of two antibacterial agents used in investigational settings for the treatment of serious infections, particularly those caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria such as *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*. POL7080 (also known as murepavadin) is a novel antibiotic that specifically targets the outer membrane protein LptD in *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, disrupting lipopolysaccharide transport and leading to bacterial cell death. Amikacin is a semi-synthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic derived from kanamycin A; it binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and resulting in bactericidal activity against both Gram-negative and some Gram-positive organisms. This combination has been studied for use in nosocomial pneumonia due to suspected or confirmed *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* infection, often as part of dual or triple empiric therapy regimens[5][2][6].
