Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pollinex Quattro Ragweed (Ragweed MATA MPL) is an ultra-short-course allergen immunotherapy developed by Allergy Therapeutics for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis caused by ragweed pollen. The vaccine consists of a ragweed pollen extract that has been chemically modified with glutaraldehyde to create an allergoid, reducing its IgE-binding capacity while maintaining its immunogenicity. This allergoid is adsorbed onto L-tyrosine, which acts as a slow-release depot, and is combined with the adjuvant monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL), a Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist. The combination is designed to shift the immune response from a Th2 (allergic) profile to a Th1 (protective) profile and induce T-cell tolerance. It is administered as a pre-seasonal course of four subcutaneous injections.
