Polyethylene glycol + losartan is a combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a polymer commonly used as an osmotic laxative to treat constipation, while losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used primarily for the treatment of hypertension and to protect kidney function in certain patients with type 2 diabetes. There is no evidence that this specific combination exists as a marketed or clinically studied fixed-dose product. However, both drugs may be co-administered in clinical practice for their respective indications. Losartan works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor on vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Polyethylene glycol acts by retaining water in the stool through osmotic activity, thereby softening stools and increasing bowel movements[6]. No unique mechanism arises from their combination; each retains its individual pharmacological action.
