Overview

Polyethylene glycol 3350 electrolyte oral solution / powder is an osmotic laxative combination developed by Shenyang Dashan Pharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of constipation and for bowel preparation prior to gastrointestinal procedures such as colonoscopy. The formulation contains polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG 3350) as the primary osmotic agent, supplemented with a balanced mixture of electrolytes including sodium sulfate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, and potassium chloride. PEG 3350 is a large, non-absorbable polymer that creates an osmotic gradient within the intestinal lumen, drawing water into the bowel to increase stool volume and stimulate peristalsis. The inclusion of electrolytes is designed to maintain an isosmotic balance, preventing the net loss or gain of fluids and ions across the intestinal mucosa, which is critical during the high-volume administration required for effective bowel cleansing. This product is part of the developer's pipeline targeting the Chinese market as a generic alternative to established brands like GoLYTELY.
