Super Bowel Cleansing Solution (XT-0008) is an osmotic laxative developed by Xi'an Xintong Pharmaceutical Research Co., Ltd. for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy, imaging, or surgical procedures. It is a compound formulation consisting of polyethylene glycol (PEG) 4000 and a balanced blend of electrolytes, including sodium sulfate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, and potassium chloride. The mechanism of action relies on the osmotic properties of PEG, a high-molecular-weight polymer that remains in the intestinal lumen, binding water molecules and increasing the liquid volume of the stool. This expansion of volume stimulates intestinal peristalsis, leading to effective evacuation of the colon. The inclusion of electrolytes is designed to minimize the net exchange of ions across the intestinal wall, thereby maintaining fluid and electrolyte homeostasis during the cleansing process. It was approved in China under the brand name Supeiqing.
