Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (poly I:C) combined with CpG oligodeoxynucleotide (CpG ODN) is an experimental, unapproved combination of two nucleic-acid immune adjuvants. Poly I:C is a synthetic double-stranded RNA analogue that acts as a Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) agonist, while CpG ODN is a synthetic single-stranded DNA oligonucleotide with unmethylated CpG motifs that acts as a Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist. Together, they function as synergistic immunostimulants that activate innate and adaptive immune pathways. This combination has been investigated preclinically as an adjuvant for therapeutic cancer vaccines (such as for HPV-related tumors and bladder cancer) and prophylactic infectious-disease vaccines (such as for *Helicobacter pylori*).
