This **combination vaccine** consists of purified **polyribosylribitol phosphate (PRP)**, the capsular polysaccharide from *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib), **conjugated to tetanus toxoid** as a carrier protein. The conjugation makes the polysaccharide **T-cell dependent**, substantially enhancing immunogenic response in infants and young children compared to unconjugated polysaccharide vaccines[3][5][6]. The vaccine induces potent anti-PRP antibody production that protects against invasive Hib disease such as meningitis and pneumonia. The use of tetanus toxoid as a protein carrier also primes for tetanus immunity.
