Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Efkalsol is an oral combination product developed by NI-THE Pharmaceuticals, containing potassium bicarbonate and betaine hydrochloride. It is indicated for the treatment of mineral deficiencies and various digestive disorders. Potassium bicarbonate serves as a source of potassium, an essential electrolyte required for maintaining cellular function, nerve transmission, and muscle contraction, while also acting as a buffering agent. Betaine hydrochloride is included to support digestive health by providing a source of hydrochloric acid, which is necessary for the breakdown of proteins and the activation of digestive enzymes in the stomach, particularly in individuals with hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid). The product is currently approved and available for clinical use.
