Overview
Bonoste is an oral potassium supplement developed and marketed by Nucitec in Mexico. It is formulated as dispersible or effervescent tablets containing potassium bicarbonate, potassium bitartrate, and citric acid. Bonoste is indicated for the treatment and prevention of hypokalemia (potassium deficiency) of various etiologies, and as an adjuvant therapy in patients receiving diuretics, corticosteroids, or carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, which can deplete potassium levels. Note that another unrelated product named Bonoste (containing ibandronic acid) is marketed by Gedeon Richter in Germany for osteoporosis.
