Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mist Pot Cit (Mistura Potassium Citrate) is an oral liquid formulation containing potassium citrate and citric acid, developed and marketed by Oak-Faith Pharmaceutical Resources. It functions as a urinary alkalinizing agent, primarily indicated for the relief of discomfort in mild urinary tract infections and for urinary alkalinization. The drug is also used to manage metabolic acidosis associated with renal failure. Upon oral administration, potassium citrate is metabolized to bicarbonate, which increases the pH of the urine, thereby reducing irritation and inhibiting the formation of certain crystals. The formulation typically contains 3 g of potassium citrate and 0.5 g of citric acid per 10 mL dose.
