Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PM-B6 is an oral combination therapy developed by SSK Pharma for the treatment and prevention of kidney stones (nephrolithiasis). It is formulated as a syrup containing potassium citrate, magnesium citrate, and pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6). Potassium citrate and magnesium citrate act as urinary alkalinizers and stone inhibitors; citrate binds to urinary calcium to prevent the formation of calcium oxalate crystals, while magnesium binds to oxalate to form soluble complexes, reducing the supersaturation of calcium oxalate. Pyridoxine hydrochloride is included to prevent vitamin B6 deficiency, which is associated with increased endogenous synthesis of oxalate. Together, these components raise urinary pH and citrate levels, inhibiting the crystallization, growth, and aggregation of stone-forming minerals in the kidneys.
