Drug intelligence / Profile preview
povidone-iodine + lidocaine hydrochloride + bupivacaine is a marketed combination pharmaceutical product comprising the antiseptic povidone-iodine together with the amide local anesthetics lidocaine hydrochloride and bupivacaine. Marketed by Asclemed USA under the brand name Marlido, the product is used to provide local or regional anesthesia and analgesia while also delivering topical antisepsis at the procedural site. Lidocaine and bupivacaine reduce nerve impulse initiation and conduction primarily by reversibly blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in neuronal membranes, with lidocaine contributing relatively rapid local anesthetic action and bupivacaine contributing longer-duration anesthesia and analgesia; povidone-iodine acts as a broad-spectrum iodophor antiseptic that releases free iodine and kills microorganisms through oxidation and iodination of cellular components.
