PR1 leukemia peptide vaccine is a peptide-based cancer vaccine developed by The Vaccine Company for the treatment of myeloid malignancies, including myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). The vaccine consists of a nine-amino acid polypeptide (VLQELNVTV) derived from two myeloid-associated proteins: proteinase 3 (PR3) and neutrophil elastase (NE). It is an HLA-A2-restricted peptide designed to induce a specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response against leukemia cells that overexpress these antigens. In clinical trials, the PR1 peptide is typically co-administered with the adjuvant Montanide ISA 51 VG and the cytokine GM-CSF (sargramostim) to enhance the immune response. It has been evaluated in Phase 2 trials for patients with low-risk and intermediate-1 MDS, as well as acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).
