pravastatin + raltegravir

Pravastatin + raltegravir is a combination of two small molecule drugs, each with distinct mechanisms and indications. Pravastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used primarily to lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events by inhibiting hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis, increasing LDL receptor expression, and enhancing LDL clearance. Raltegravir is an antiretroviral agent classified as an integrase strand transfer inhibitor; it prevents the integration of HIV-1 DNA into the host genome, thereby inhibiting viral replication. This combination may be co-administered in patients with HIV who also require lipid-lowering therapy.
