Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Obulytix's lead program is a Precision Lysin Therapeutic (PLT) targeting multidrug-resistant *Acinetobacter baumannii*, a pathogen frequently associated with hospital-acquired infections in critically ill patients. As an engineered protein biologic based on phage-derived lysins, it functions as an enzyme that rapidly and selectively cleaves bacterial cell walls, leading to potent bactericidal activity within seconds. The platform is designed to minimize antimicrobial resistance by specifically targeting the pathogen while leaving the healthy microbiota untouched. The therapy's mechanism is inspired by antibody-drug conjugates, focusing on rapid and selective destruction of bacterial cell walls. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development and is designed for potential single-dose administration.
