prednisolone + neomycin

Prednisolone + neomycin is a topical combination of a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid and an aminoglycoside antibiotic, used primarily to treat inflammatory conditions complicated by or at risk for bacterial infection. Prednisolone exerts anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, and antipruritic effects via intracellular glucocorticoid receptors, modulating transcription of pro‑inflammatory genes and reducing leukocyte infiltration, vascular permeability, and mediator release.[4] Neomycin is a broad‑spectrum aminoglycoside that binds the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and exerting bactericidal activity against many Gram‑negative and some Gram‑positive organisms.[4] In fixed-dose human products it is commonly formulated for ophthalmic or dermatologic use, where the steroid component controls inflammation while neomycin provides local antibacterial coverage.
