Overview

**Prednisolone + neomycin + polymyxin B** is an ophthalmic combination formulation containing the synthetic corticosteroid **prednisolone acetate** (5 mg/ml), aminoglycoside antibiotic **neomycin sulfate** (equivalent to 3.5 mg neomycin base), and polypeptide antibiotic **polymyxin B sulfate** (10,000 units/ml). Prednisolone reduces inflammation by binding glucocorticoid receptors to inhibit inflammatory mediators, while neomycin and polymyxin B disrupt bacterial cell walls and membranes to target gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria sensitive to these agents. It is primarily indicated for ocular disorders requiring concurrent anti-inflammatory and antibacterial therapy, such as nonpurulent conjunctivitis, blepharitis, scleritis, nonherpetic keratitis, dacryocystitis, and prophylaxis post-ocular surgery or trauma.[1][3][4]
