Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Prednisolone acetate + prednisone is a combination of two synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroids. Both drugs act as anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive agents by modulating the immune response and reducing inflammation. Prednisolone acetate is commonly used in ophthalmic formulations to treat eye inflammation, allergies, or injury, while prednisone is typically administered orally for systemic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. Both drugs exert their effects primarily through binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, altering gene expression to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokines and mediators. This combination would provide both local (ophthalmic) and systemic anti-inflammatory effects if used together.
