Overview
Prednisone + carmustine is a combination regimen comprised of two distinct small-molecule agents: prednisone, a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with immunosuppressant and anti-inflammatory properties, and carmustine (also known as BCNU), a nitrosourea-class alkylating agent that mediates antitumor activity primarily through DNA and RNA alkylation, DNA cross-linking, and carbamoylation of proteins. This combination has been studied and clinically used for various lymphoid malignancies, especially multiple myeloma and relapsed/refractory lymphomas, often as part of multidrug regimens. Carmustine is administered intravenously, whereas prednisone is given orally.
