Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of prednisone, a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid, and tocilizumab, a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor. This combination is primarily used for the treatment of giant cell arteritis (GCA), with research showing that 12 months of tocilizumab combined with a shortened 8-week course of prednisone can effectively induce and maintain remission while reducing glucocorticoid exposure and associated toxicity.
