Prefusion F protein + Advax is a preclinical-stage recombinant protein vaccine candidate developed by Vaxine for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection and associated conditions such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia. The vaccine consists of a stabilized RSV prefusion F protein antigen, which is the viral surface glycoprotein in its prefusion conformation responsible for mediating viral fusion and host-cell entry. It is formulated with Vaxine's proprietary Advax adjuvant system, specifically Advax-SM, which comprises delta inulin polysaccharide combined with a TLR9 agonist (CpG oligodeoxynucleotides). This combination is designed to induce potent neutralizing antibodies and a balanced Th1/Th2 immune response, providing protective immunity while avoiding the Th2-skewed lung pathology historically associated with some RSV vaccine candidates.
