Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A third-generation recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed by the Chengdu Institute of Biological Products for the prevention of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The vaccine is produced using the *Pichia pastoris* yeast expression system and is distinguished by the inclusion of the preS1 and preS2 regions of the HBV surface protein, in addition to the standard S antigen. This design is intended to enhance the vaccine's immunogenicity, particularly in individuals who are non-responsive or hypo-responsive to conventional second-generation vaccines that contain only the S antigen. By providing a broader range of epitopes, the vaccine aims to elicit a more potent and protective immune response against HBV.
